CableLabs Extends Deadline for High-Speed Data Service RFP
Louisville, CO, May 23, 1995 -- Cable Television Laboratories, Inc., (CableLabs), has extended to June 30 the deadline for companies to respond to the high speed cable data service request for proposal (RFP).
The original deadline had been June 9.
More than 800 copies of the RFP have been mailed or have been downloaded anonymously from the CableLabs FTP server (ftp.cablelabs.com), under the /pub/RFIs directory.
Active participants in this RFP are CableLabs member companies Buford Television, Inc.; CF Cable TV; Cogeco inc.; Comcast Corp.; Continental Cablevision; Cox Cable Communications, Inc.; Fundy Cable; Greater Media, Inc.; Jones Intercable; Le Group Videotron Ltee; Rogers Cablesystems Ltd.; Shaw Cable; Tele-Communications, Inc.; Time Warner Cable; Viacom Cablevision; and WinDBreak Cable.
CableLabs is a research and development consortium of cable television system operators representing more than 85% of the cable subscribers in the United States, 70% of the subscribers in Canada, and 5-10% of cable subscribers in Mexico. CableLabs plans and funds research and development projects that will help cable companies take advantage of future opportunities and meet future challenges in the television industry. It also transfers relevant technologies to member companies and to the industry. In addition, CableLabs acts as a clearinghouse to provide information on current and prospective technological developments that are of interest to the cable industry.
